STUDENT SUCCESS
Implementation Matters: Why a Customized High-Dosage Tutoring Program Helps Drive Better Student Outcomes
Learn about the implementation process for The Princeton Review and Tutor.com’s customized high-dosage, high-impact tutoring programs.
The efficacy of high-dosage tutoring is often attributed to its high-impact approach, which prioritizes targeted, personalized tutoring for small groups of students with similar educational needs. Extensive research supports the efficacy of regular small group tutoring over an extended period of time. Thoughtful instructional methodology further enhances the program’s impact as when Tutor.com’s tutors utilize the GEMS principles to drive student success.
Program design and instructional methodology both rely on the integrity of something invisible to most students: the implementation process. When a program is implemented to meet the specific needs of the school and students it supports, then learners are set up for success. Three key factors drive implementation: integration, reporting, and the student experience.
Integration
A key focus of the high-dosage tutoring implementation process is integration. The Princeton Review and Tutor.com collaborate closely with partner schools and districts to integrate their high-dosage tutoring programs seamlessly into their existing Learning Management System (LMS) or Single Sign-On (SSO) system. For students, this means that they can access high-dosage tutoring using the system they’re already familiar with—and often, already logged in to, as well. The implementation team meticulously tests each integration to ensure ease of user access and accurate reporting of essential data.
Reporting
Comprehensive reporting services are an essential feature of The Princeton Review and Tutor.com’s high-dosage tutoring program. These are customized during implementation. Once a program is configured, teachers and school leaders gain access to key data, including session attendance, lessons mastered, standards covered, and student test results from before and after tutoring sessions. District-level reporting additionally empowers administrators by providing actionable data insights.
Student Experience
The program is meant to be not only readily accessible, but also highly engaging. High-dosage tutoring sessions are delivered in a multimodal, proprietary online classroom, which is equipped with features ranging from a Desmos® graphing calculator to emoji and video. On their personal dedicated landing page, students can also find their upcoming and previous sessions, and complete their pre- and post-session tests using The Princeton Review's assessment engine.
